Application Process:
Applied for multiple SDE2 and SDET2 roles through Amazon's job portal. Given my background with some SDET experience, I received a link for an online assessment (OA) within a few days.

Online Assessment (OA):

  • The OA consisted of two coding questions, which were both new to me. The first question was a LC medium, and I was able to solve it completely. The second question was a LC hard, where I passed 11/15 test cases.

Recruiter Follow-Up:

  • Shortly after completing the OA, I received a call from a recruiter discussing my performance and detailing the next steps in the interview process, which included a phone screening. Recruiter also informed me that clearing the phone screening would qualify me for four more interview rounds.

Phone Screening:

  • Technical Question: I was asked to solve a variation of the Number of Islands problem. Provided an efficient solution and discussed my approach, focusing on the time and space complexities.
  • Leadership Principles (LPs):
    • Ownership: I was asked to describe a time when I went beyond my defined responsibilities to address an issue.
    • Dive Deep: The second LP focused on my ability to analyze deeply into a problem.

Result: Reject

Interviewer was quite friendly, which made the discussion enjoyable and less stressful. I felt positive about the outcome but ... :/
