I applied via referral for the SDE-2 opening, and then received the invite for online test.
Round 1: Glider Test [90 mins]
5 MCQs around basic fundamentals and 1 greedy question.
Solved it in 30 mins and got selected for onsite rounds.
I received a Craft Demo Project regarding a gaming module, where we had to implement a leaderboard to fetch top K scores.
Round 2: Craft Demo Round [60mins]
This round was taken by Intuit SDE-2, I prepared a ppt for the demo, and then gave walkthrough of the code it was running with proper unit test cases, and answered all the design choices questions.
This round went well, and got advanced to the next round.
Round 3: Assessor Round [60 mins]
This round was taken by Intuit SDE-2, a basic DSA question was asked but constraint was to implement in JAVA itself, it was completed and running.
Then, I was asked alot of theoretical questions around Java, OOPS, SpringBoot. Tried to answer most of it, but didn't know some very specific java questions.
Got a Weak yes in this round, because I couldn't answer 30% of these theory questions.
P.S: I don't totally understand for asking these mundane theoretical questions as if we are still in School days, I mean conceptually you should be strong but judging if you're unable to quote a line from documentation is little too much.
Round 4: Team Member Round [60 mins]
This round was taken by Intuit Lead Engineer.
Problem Statement was: Traffic Sensors in the city will upload images of the cars, where a ML service will identify the violation and send the challan notification to the concerned person.
I started with collecting and stating FR & NFR, and then started drawing the components. The interviewer had one design in mind, and was not ready to listen to me, After him insisting for more than couple of times, I had to change the design and then tried to build solution out of that. The more better practices I was trying to have in design, the more problem he had.
The round lasted 30 mins only, as I feel he has already made up his mind, and got a rejection update from HR in this round.
P.S: I would request all the MNC folks or FAANG employees to enlighten us, that is this the case how HLD & System design rounds are being evaluated? Do interviewers come with one specific design and we have to just replicate or get rejected?
I mean this is one of the worst experiences for me in Design round, I have given multiple rounds, there were obviously complex and tough questions which is genuine but, sticking to one design becomes very frustrating at times.
