Google SWE ML | 2 years exp | Worst Google Interview Experience

Hey guys ! just posting my exp to see if this is normal.

So recruiter contacts me for an SWE-ML position in India during Nov'23. She scheduled my phone screening interview in mid Dec'23. After the interview I did not get any communication till like 20 days. I let it pass since it was holiday season. She informed me that I have passed and that we can move to Onsite. She scheduled 2 DSA 1 ML and 1 G&L in last second week Jan'24.

According to our comm the sequence was supposed to be DSA 1, DSA 2, ml, g&l. I sit for my first interview, for some reason interviewer was not prepared nonetheless he takes an int. where problem statement was not well defined and hence i was unable to understand the problem nonetheless i solve it but used hint. Next day i have dsa round 2 again the interviewer is confused and checks with the recruiter turns out my first interview was supposed to be g&l and not dsa. So we cancel our all ongoing interviews saying that this will create confusion so discarded current scheduled interviews and reschedule.

Cool so I sit for second iteration of these int. Had DSA1, dsa2 (dsa 2 was by the same interviewer who took my first onsite that got discarded he even apologized for the inconvenience). After that had my ML round. Now the interviewer is from abroad and he is again taking my dsa i told him i have my ML and not DSA.

This guy is shocked i called recruiter she said u can give one more dsa and we can take Ml During hiring manager i said no i have studied for this and i want it rn she synced with the interviewer and she requested him the same. so he takes my int my focus area was nlp but he asked me from all focus areas probably he was not informed nonetheless i answered everything correctly except Computer Vision where i clearly siad i am not well read in this topic hence I cannot answer.

now in g&l round again same thing happens this guy again wants to take my dsa again i requested the recruiter to ask interviewer to take g&l . he takes it.

now time for results turns out i am a lean hire in dsa 2 (where i solved the optimal sol in 20 mins and also a bonus question and the int was so impressed and it was my best int) and ml round (when asked recruiter said my feedback says excellent in nlp and basics , borderline in computer vision). now i am extremely shocked i knew this cannot be a lean hire for me. In my process everything went wrong and ML guy gave bad feedback because he did not know my focus area because it was an impromptu for him and for DSA 2 there was no scope for me to be lean hire i was fucking best in this one.

Also she said if u r interested we can consider you for SDE role but not Ml i said no I am not interested in that she said ok. Now i cannot understand how everything in this went wrong even when i put in so much hardwork and all my interviews were so smooth. I mailed Google candidate support in response to which recruiter calls me back and tells me that i was actually a hire in all and the position itself has been filled. I firstly bashed the recruiter on how can she continue taking the interview if she knew position is filled also if it was the case why did she lie that i was a lean hire and break my confidence. She said I have sent your profile and whenever some position opens up i will be considered and will have to give the hiring manager round directly

. So in all I put in 2 months of extreme hardwork for nothing. Literally nothing. This seemed like a scam to me so many times on the way coz this just cannot be google...too many fuckups
