Microsoft Interview Experience | SDE1 | March 2024 | Seeking Clarification

After applying to Microsoft India via referral, I was contacted by a recruiter via email. Subsequently, I participated in Codility tests for a specific team's hiring drive. The interview process comprised four rounds (three technical and one with the hiring manager).

Throughout this process, I interacted with two HR representatives: one for scheduling interviews via calls, let's name the person X, and another as my primary point of contact (Main recruiter) through email, let's name this person Y.

All the scheduling of interviews for me was done by X. The initial rounds consisted of a DSA interview followed by a System Design interview on the first day, and another System Design interview the next day. Following these rounds, there was a delay of a few days before I was informed about the final round with the hiring manager. The Hiring manager round went okayish (since the interviewer seemed to be caught up in his work and wasn't in the best mood). So now, even after good tech interviews, it could be a Yes or a No for me, because of the spoiled HM round.

After the final interview, I experienced a couple of weeks of silence without any updates (anxiety explosion). Despite reaching out to X, they were unable to provide any information, suggesting that Y would handle further communication. However, my emails to Y went unanswered, and I had no phone number to contact Y.

But recently, I received an email from Y requesting detailed information and documents regarding compensation, location preferences, etc., without any feedback on my interview performance or selection status. I promptly provided the requested information. But still, I don't have any verbal or written YES from Microsoft.

So my question is: Does this email indicate that I have been selected, and is the background check currently underway before the final offer is extended? Or is there still a possibility of a NO???
