Uber | SDE 2(L4) | Bangalore | June 2023 [Offer]

Status: Working, BE CSE from (NIRF Tier 1) Institute
Position: SSE in a Bangalore based company.

The recruiter has approached me from LinkedIn, I was actively looking for a role and since I was part of layoff at my current organisation I was an immediate joiner. The call was normal with questions around experience and about the process.

My first Interview was on 11th April which was a DSA round. I wanted to have some time for preparation so asked for some time and we schedule interviews in May.

On May 2, 2023 I had my first round
can't reveal the question but it was a leetcode medium question and interviewer keep adding the scenario as we progressed. I did okay in the interview but could have done a lot better. specially the last problem variant we didn't get time to code it. Interviewer was really nice and helpful. the interaction was really positive. It was a little over an hour interview.

Second round was schedule on 5th May, but due to some problems from their end we didn't had interview that day, later we rescheduled it to 19th May.
It was specialization round where we had to do React coding, this was one of the best rounds I had as I was able to solve the problem well within time with all the brownie points that interviewer has in mind. Again a great interviewer with setting expecations and what he wants from the interview. It took approx 1.15 hour.

after that I had emailed them thanking the interviewer, got a reply after couple of weeks(anexious wait :)).
as I have expected they said first round was not that great but second round was fantastic so they want to move ahead with the process.

Third and fourth round was scheduled in mid june on 12th and 16th, but again due to their own reasons they rescheduled it to 14th and 16th, this time they told me 1 week before about the change.

I was already informed that 3rd round will be Bar raiser round which will be based on high level system design.

It was again a great round we had a great discussion on designing whatsapp web. I had done pretty well there with only red flag I found was few questions which concerns back end, i was not able to convince myself with the answer so pretty sure interviewer was not convinced either, but in all other aspects I have done really well.
Again this time, I got a great interviewer with a lot of knowledge so we discussed a lot about pros and cons of different tools and tech. this was again an hour interview, we pushed it to 15 more minutes.

Finally on 16th June I had final round which was Hiring manager round.
The questions where situational and about me
A lot of behaviorial questions, looks like they really are serious about this, anything you answer they might dig really deep into it, specifically in your experience. They always look for a story in their situational questions. one of the most lengthy HM rounds I have ever had, it went more than an hour I am sure, after the Interview I could sense I need to take a break, directly went to have tea with my friends.

There were 2-3 flags which I found in my interviews and hence I have given myself 95% chance of clearing the interview.
Anyways I was promptly told that on Monday there will be briefing and they will let me know the results, Had waited patiently and did not get anything on Monday to Tuesday evening they came up with positive news.

Overall I already had met with 5-6 people from the Uber team and their culture, knowledge and behaviour have already made a positive impression on me so I have decided to join them.
